The objects that complete a home A home takes shape one element at a time. After the floors, the furniture, the doors and the artwork, there are often other pieces whose role is to bring everything together. Mirrors, consoles, side tables, clocks, lamps, vases and other decorative objects, whether antique or twentieth-century, help complete an interior, adding character and making it more personal. They do not always occupy centre stage. Yet these are often the pieces that make the difference, giving a room that sense of completeness that is difficult to achieve in any other way. For this reason, they find their place as naturally in historic houses as they do in contemporary interiors, helping create spaces that reflect the people who live in them.
