Moses in the garden, with the tablets of the law.

Garden sculpture in reconstituted stone, 19th-century copy of Michelangelo’s Moses

Crafted in Tuscany in the second half of the 19th century, this sculpture is made of graniglia – a mix of lime and stone chippings widely used at the time for its durability and its ability to be cast in moulds for serial production. It reflects the decorative taste of the period, which brought into bourgeois homes subjects once reserved for important settings such as churches, palaces, and noble villas.

Over time, the surface has developed a natural patina – with moss, lichen, and gentle weathering – enhancing its archaic appearance and giving it the authentic charm of ancient stone.

Today, it can be appreciated in a variety of settings: outdoors, as a sculptural presence in a garden, courtyard or terrace, adding character and depth to green spaces; or indoors, as a striking visual accent in classical or contemporary interiors.

A solid presence, balanced between art and furnishing, capable of transcending mere decoration.
