Authentic 18th-century Tuscan “fratino” table, crafted from solid chestnut wood and originating from the rolling hills of the Chianti region.
In excellent structural condition, it has been carefully consolidated, cleaned, and polished with warm wax through a conservative restoration that fully respects the originality and rustic character of the piece, without altering its precious patina acquired over time.
The top, slightly irregular and visibly worn, still bears the marks of daily use, suggesting an original function as a work table in a rural or artisanal setting—perhaps inside a farmhouse or a country workshop—or possibly as a convivial table in a modest yet authentic domestic environment.
The trestle structure, with crossbars and diagonal braces typical of the fratino style, ensures great stability and lends the piece a sober and essential aesthetic.
The chestnut wood, with its warm tones and pronounced grain, gives the table a strong tactile and visual presence, bearing witness to the use of local materials and the mastery of traditional Tuscan craftsmanship.
A versatile period piece, perfect as a charming dining table for smaller spaces, an atmospheric writing desk in a study, or a simple support surface—either against a wall or placed centrally, for example as a sofa table in a tastefully furnished room.
